Bronson AND Kyle photos tonight!

What you shouldn’t say after getting run out of a game in less than 2 innings (unless you want your fanbase to track you down and set your hair on fire):

“Today was the best I’ve throw in years,” Arroyo said. “They just beat me. I had a good fastball. I had decent command. Everything felt good. I felt like I had pretty good stuff.”

I love ya, Bronson. But for the love of Mike, man, what the hell were you thinking? To say you sucked today would be putting it mildly. Not a judgment, just an observation. And now Dusty Baker is banging the “maybe he’s hurt” drum and maybe you should just let him?

“He’s kind of off right now,” Baker responded. “We’re going to get him checked out. Maybe something’s wrong with him. His pitches weren’t sharp. Right now, his breaking ball is not crisp. It’s sort of rolling up there. He kind of got a little bit predictable.”

“There ain’t nothing to check out. They said they wanted to check me out?” Arroyo said. “Today is probably the best I’ve felt in years on a day game. No excuses, they just beat my butt.”

I love the addition of “on a day game”. Reds fans will probably interpret this as “Last night was the first night I didn’t go out and get wasted the night before I pitched a day game”. I prefer to just think that Bronson isn’t a morning person. 😉

Oh Bronson. Let them check you out. Maybe you could use the rest?

Before I forget, I want to give a shout out to the Jon Lester fan in Mebane, North Carolina. I would have left the comment up, but I never like it when a commenter uses more profanity than I do. I have a dear friend in North Carolina (hell, I even have a couple of relatives down there) so I won’t bash. I’ll just thank you for a good laugh and add you to my reasons for continuing to support Kyle Snyder. 🙂 (I can honestly say I never dreamed being a Kyle Snyder fan would bring out trolls. It’s pretty damn funny!)

Speaking of pitchers in Pawtucket, Craig Hansen got the call today and will be joining the team in Detroit to fill the roster spot left open by Brandon Moss’ appendix. I wish this kid nothing but good luck yet will watch every inning he pitches with my fingers and toes crossed.

And speaking, general, of pitchers, John Bale, left-handed pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, did the most intelligent thing a pitcher could do when frustrated with his pitching (or, in Bale’s case, his lack of progress while he’s on the DL): he punched a door in the team’s hotel and broke, you guessed it, his pitching hand. The man is 33 years old and has been pitching for a while. What makes him think punching a wall was the way to go? Wasn’t there a cat to kick* or glass he could have thrown across the room?** What the hell was going through his mind? Oh, and Kevin Brown says ‘hello’!

*I would never advocate kicking a cat. If you tried to kick my cat, she’d kick your ass before your foot even left the ground.

** Last week, during a particularly bad time that I’ve written about previously here, I smashed a wine glass onto the pavement outside my parents’ home. It was, surprisingly, an effective (yet brief) release.

Crabcakes gets a shout out (in spite of the schmuck from Mebane). He pitched well for his second game in a row. Not as fabulous as last week, but a hell of a lot better than he had been pitching. Keep it up, Jon. (Okay, I have to share one line from Mebane’s comment: ” If kyle had thrown lester’s two hitter from a week ago you would have screamed for weeks” – Mebane is absolutely right. That’s the beauty of having your own blog. I get to write about anything I want. The internet rules!)

Have I mentioned the fabulous pitching job by Kyle on Friday? 😉 (Another tidbit from Mebane’s comment: ” And by the way, kyle would have walked through you to get to a hot groupie.”) Honestly? I laughed out loud at this. I suppose I should have kept the entire comment but all it would have done was begun a flame war. Besides, it’s more fun this way. My blog, my rules.

I’ve been listening to music by Michael Nesmith all evening. Not The Monkees, but Michael Nesmith. It’s helping my mood in many ways!

Cinco de Mayo tomorrow – and, in spite of what the PawSox website says – Bartolo Colon is not pitching there tomorrow night. (Actually, the PawSox site hasn’t been updated since Saturday morning. PawSox people, I’d be happy to update your site daily. The team plays on the weekend too folks!) Charlie Zink pitches instead (click here for a really interesting and enlightening story about Charlie) and Kyle is set to go on Wednesday. (I’d be making the trip since the BoSox are on the road, but Wednesday is also my dad’s birthday so that won’t be happening. Maybe next time!)

Lots of parenthesis tonight. I must be tired. Time to call it a night, think.

Ooh, before I finish I need to thank Amanda and Rebecca, both in New York for the fabulous emails they sent along! It’s good to know folks are enjoying the blog and sending along notes to let me know – along with photos I might or might not publish here!

Have a good night/day folks. Don’t let the asses get you down.
