Fun Night at the Park

There were a few tense moments, but all in all, had a great time at the game. Saw Josh win his sixth game (only pitcher in MLB to have 6 wins right now) saw Mike Lowell make an interesting steal. Saw Papi try to motor home, just to get thrown out. Saw Langerhans try to casually make an out and botch it big time (and then he got traded after the game!). Saw Mike Lowell tag out Mike Piazza (and now he’s out 4-6 weeks with a ‘strained right shoulder’). The bullpen came through again (okay, Timlin gave up a run and owes Coco yet another expensive dinner…but all is good.)

Most importantly, I saw every member of the lineup HIT.

Alex Cora called it a "good solid baseball game". I’m going to have to agree. And it was great to watch.

Jon Lester pitched again for Pawtucket last night and didn’t do so well. In three innings he threw 63 pitches and allowed 3 runs before being taken out with a ‘forearm cramp’. Jon doesn’t sound too happy in his post-game interview, but he’s young. He only was brought up last season because of the dire need the team had for pitching. I’d rather see him in AAA then rushed back up here just for the fact of bringing him up. If he needs more time in AAA, he should be there. Although he’s a competitor and I’m sure he’ll disagree.

Got to see the Blue Jays lose in extra innings to the Indians before I fell asleep last night so the Sox are 4.5 games up with a 17-9 record. Certainly a little early for scoreboard watching (although, I watch the scoreboard all season long), but I like the Sox taking advantage of the losses of others as long as they can.

Congrats to Hideki Okajima for his winning American League Rookie of the Month for May – well done, Okie!

Manny had a great time last night with the crowd. He even did the wave! This video isn’t of that, but it IS of him acknowledging the fans yelling his name. All in all, a really fun night!
