It Happens

Anyone who has talked baseball with me has heard me lament about the ‘God-like’ status that most of Red Sox Nation, as well as the local and national media, gives Jonathan Papelbon.

No denying the kid is amazing.  He’s talented, poised and intimidating.

He’s also human.

So every time he comes into a game, I still worry.  No one is perfect and everyone’s time comes sooner or later.  Jonathan’s came sooner this year.  He was completely off his game tonight and the Sox lost as a result of it.

It stinks, but it certainly isn’t the end of the world or, in this case, the season.  I’m confidant that Papelbon will come back strong.  No worries there.

And Curt Schilling looked great tonight.  Good enough to win, unfortunately that wasn’t the final outcome.

So while I’m sorry the Sox didn’t win tonight, I’m not terribly worried about what it means for the future.
