I have no speech

okie.jpgI watched the game with a friend tonight.  One who is as crazy as I am about the Red Sox.  After a particularly tough week at work, I decided to make a phone call and jump on a train and visit a friend.  Halfway through this game, I’ll admit, we were giving up.  We were talking ourselves into not minding if the Sox lose.  "Well, it’s one game in April, it’s no big deal.  We won’t mind if they lose as long as they win at least one this weekend."

Bullshit.  We wanted them to win.  We didn’t want ARod and his two home runs to be the story on NESN and ESPN and in every friggin’ sports page tomorrow morning.  WE WANTED THEM TO WIN!

We drove to  my friend’s house, listening to the Sox on the radio.  8th inning and Jason Giambi gets taken out of the game for a pinch runner.  I say to my friend, "Where’s the logic there?  Why take him out?".  She says to me  "It’s the 8th inning, it’s 6-2…why not?".

Well when Kevin Thompson was up to bat in the ninth I reminded my friend of our conversation.

How great is this team got together and picked up Curt to get the win?  I’m so proud of these guys for coming through.  Peter’s boy "Darkman" came though BIG time.  As did the rest of the bullpen.

ARod is still on fire and he bested Curt, but in the end all of ARod’s RBI meant nothing.   Still, dude is on fire and we’ll have to be watching him the rest of the weekend.  Let’s hope Beckett and Matsuzaka can contain him.

At 9pm, it didn’t look like I’d be going to bed this happy…so, thank you guys, for a wonderful night!
