And even MORE Bronson

Bronsonsits Rumors abound today.  I’ve heard from more than one person about the Arroyo or Clement to the Nationals for either Alfonso Soriano or Nick Johnson and Ryan Church.

Matt Clement did a lot for this team last year…and I don’t see why we need Soriano or Johnson (heck, even Church…)…but if a trade HAS to be made, here’s hoping it’s Clement not Arroyo.

For various reason, most  not having to do with my thinking Arroyo is a tall glass of sexy, I prefer him over Clement.  The main one being his versatility.  He’s effective out of the pen or in the rotation and is happy to be in either position.  I think he’s a better pitcher under pressure…and, yeah, he was one of "the" 25…so I don’t want to see him gone any time soon.  (Plus that whole, taking a lesser deal thing…)

Here’s a blurb from Gordon Edes…I usually dvr the show he is talking about, hopefully I did last night.  This sounds like it was a great piece of television:

T1_arroyoIt was a classic spring-training moment: Bronson Arroyo, in T-shirt and uniform pants, propped up against a palm tree in the parking lot with guitar in hand, singing "C is for Cookie," the Sesame Street song, for a little mini-feature that will appear tonight on Red Sox This Week (10 o’clock, Channel 38, then after sports final on Channel 4).

Arroyo couldn’t have been a better sport about the whole thing. He spent time with the TV technical folks, listening to the original version by Cookie Monster, and fiddled around until he found the right key. Then he was the one who suggested that they shoot the scene with him sitting against the palm tree, and sang the song as if he was recording it for his CD. If there is anyone who has figured out how to enjoy being a Sox player and continue to be as natural as they come, it’s Bronson. It’s no accident he signed an extension for less than market value. The guy just isn’t hung up on some of the same things other guys are.

That last line says it all.  Man, I hope these rumors are just that…rumors.  Hot Stove is over; I’m not supposed to have to worry about this stuff!
