I told my friend Ted, yesterday, that I had a good feeling about Jon Lester.  Something I immediately regretted once I realized that it seems every time I write something positive about Crabcakes it backfires and he ends up stinking up the place.  So I decided not to write an entry yesterday lest I jinx him.

Worked out well, huh?  (Well except for that groin thing but they all keep saying it’s no big deal so I’ll pretend to believe them until his next scheduled start!)

Jim Thome to the Dodgers?  That just sounds so wrong.  Well, at least he’s on a playoff contender but, man, I hate seeing him in Dodger blue.

And Kyle Snyder pitched last night for the Bisons.  Let’s just say he didn’t have a good game and leave it at that.  It’s remarkable to me (and a bit of a downer) that the Bisons and PawSox each only have 7 games left in their seasons.  One bright spot in the Bisons game last night was that the Herd actually turned a triple play.  I’ve seen in the park home runs in  person and I’ve been lucky enough to witness a no-hitter as well but I’ve never seen a player hit for the cycle nor a team turn a triple play.  Two on my baseball bucket list.

Good reading about Jonathan Papelbon (who was pretty damned amazing last night) over at Dan Roche’s blog today.  I really enjoy Rochie’s blog if for no other reason than, even though he’s a member of the Boston sports media, he writes about the Red Sox, from the viewpoint of someone who loves the team.  I don’t feel as if he has any ulterior motives in what he writes nor do I feel like he’s out there trying to “get” someone.  He writes from the heart and it’s damn entertaining.

No one else cooperated yesterday what with the Rangers winning both games of their double header and the Yankees taking their game as well but I’m happy just as long as the Sox keep winning.  Beckett is on the mound tonight versus Matt Garza.  Beckett needs that damn rebound game and tonight is as good a night as any to have it.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to live blog the game tonight.  I’m not even sure if I’ll be watching tonight but I will be sending Beckett good vibes in hopes that he finally gets his 15th win.
