But I guess you were better off without me

Oh for the love of God! I open what I think is a friendly email from KellyO with updates from Ft Myers and instead I find out that I broke Will Middlebrooks.

Unfortunately, Middlebrooks tore his hamstring during drills this weekend, and will likely be out through April, possibly longer …

Last season I started the Kyle Snyder updates on my blog…and Kyle ended up on the DL more than he did on the mound. Friends joked that I ‘broke’ him and at least one random reader emailed me to ask me to stop supporting Kyle before I killed him. It all worked out in the end and Kyle finished the season healthy (and in the playoffs with the PawSox). Here’s hoping Will comes back healthy sooner rather than later and has a great season.

Maybe I should just stick to rooting for the laundry before someone really gets hurt? (Won’t happen any time soon. I already have the Tuesday Mets game penciled in since I’m almost positive Kyle will see some playing time.)

NESN is showing a highlight version (only an hour long) of the 2006 game between the Yankees and the Red Sox when Johnny Damon (and Doug Mirabelli) came back to Fenway. I have to laugh because Jerry Remy is being very critical of Josh Bard. Whoopsie. Who would have thought he’d be back?

I had almost forgotten how absolutely goofy Damon looked tipping his cap to the fans while they were booing him. The “Johnny Sucks” chant certainly has brought a smile to my face. Johnny’s out and now we can enjoy the rest of the game until Big Papi Mark Loretta wins it for us. (Edit: Loretta got the go-ahead RBI…Papi just piled on with a three-run home run against Mike Myers.)

Sox play Cincinnati tomorrow but we won’t get to see or hear it, so check out MLB.tv or the MLB Network at 1pm to see Team USA kick the crap out of the New York Yankees. Hey, Jeter’s on the US team and I’m sure would love to take A*Rod out at third. This could be some epic baseball! [Morning edit: How did I forget that Slappy is with the Dominican Team? I really was off my game on Monday!]

This video…this makes me smile every time I see it:
