All Star Game Randomness

– I dreamed the All Star Game was last night and 1) I missed it and 2) the American League lost due largely in part to errors made by Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. 😆

– Manny didn’t show up to meet the media yesterday. You’ll read this in just about every baseball writer’s column today. As much as it pissed off the writers, MLB didn’t fine Manny for the no-show. Guess they don’t care much for the media either.

– Jonathan Papelbon told reporters yesterday that he thinks Mariano Rivera should close today’s game. I keep getting emails from Yankees fans complaining that Papelbon has no class and is an “arrogant egomaniac”.  Oddly enough, I’ve received no emails from them about this.

– Tom Singer at mlb.com wrote an entire article dedicated to how the Red Sox all stars all were booed at Yankee Stadium yesterday. I hear that tomorrow he’s going to write an article about how clouds are white and rain is wet.

– Last night was more proof that Big Papi is the face of baseball.  Everyone wanted a piece of him. The National League player, the American League players and, of course, ESPN.

– Milton Bradley was downright playful last night while Josh Hamilton was going to homerun town. A quick Google of his name, though, and no one has reported on this. (If booing Sox players in Yankee Stadium is noteworthy, this certainly should be!) They love to point out every one of the negative things about Bradley, but God forbid they focus on something positive. Fortunately, Milton has Jean-Jacques Taylor, the only writer seeming not afraid to write something nice about him.

– Since everyone else wants to focus on Josh Hamilton, it’s worth repeating again:  Congratulations to the winner of the 2008 Home Run Derby – JUSTIN MORNEAU!

-  Thanks to the idiocy of Bud Selig, we have to care about the outcome of tonight’s game.  Let’s hope the American League wins and no one from the Red Sox gets hurt.  🙂
