Oh well

I’ll write here what I just wrote somewhere else.

I don’t mind the split at all.  As a matter of fact, at Yankee Stadium and the way the Sox have been playing on the road as of late, I’ll take it any time.

I do mind our closer not being able to get it done against the batters he had to face.  He gave up the winning hit to a guy not even hitting .150.  That’s disturbing.  Papelbon isn’t close to being a guaranteed ‘lights out’ this year.  And that’s going to come back to bite the team in the ass sooner or later.

Sox are now 5 games behind  the Rays, which should bother me more than it does.   I still believe they’ll (the Rays that is) come down to earth when the second half starts.   But the Red Sox aren’t doing themselves any favors by digging a hole right now.

Having written all that, I feel kind of “meh” about this loss.  Sox got a split, which is good.  They can’t help the Rays winning all the time 🙂 so they have to focus on what they can do for themselves.  A win is always preferable, but they showed a lot of life in the Yanks series and there is a lot of good to take away from it.  A split, after being swept, is a good start toward getting back in a groove.

I’m about 98% sure I’m going to Fenway Monday night.  The winning ways will begin again!
