Only GOOD for Timmy!PawSox got their hats handed to them by the Columbus Clippers tonight, but Manny Delcarmen looked good and my man Mike Timlin pitched a clean 7th inning, facing 3 batters on 12 pitches while John Farrell and Tito looked on. Small steps, Mike, good work.
My boy Bronson Arroyo got his ass kicked by Houston tonight, and the game isn’t even over. Bronson gave up 8 earned runs on 11 hits in 5 innings. I have a friend who is at that game. Well, at least she’s getting to enjoy seeing Bronson, Alex Gonzalez and Mark Loretta. Mark Loretta got career hit 1500 tonight (and he has 4 hits on the night). Congrats Mark!
While watching the Reds/Astros game, I heard the Astros announcers discussing ARod and the Blue Jays. I’ve yet to hear one person connected with the game on a professional level, aside from ARod, say this was a ‘normal’ play and done all the time. Seems the majority of the folks around MLB think it was bush. No surprise there. I think ARod said it best, actually. It was just desperate. The Yankees were actually LEADING the game when he did it. Guess he doesn’t have much faith in his team to hold a lead.
I suppose I should be more worked up for this weekend than I am. I’m happy for any Sox baseball, especially after an off-day, but this isn’t a stereotypical, nail-biting series. I have faith my team will play well and I’m looking forward to that. But, for now, the excitement isn’t any more than for any other series. And I’m fine with that. 🙂
