Dear Members of the Baseball Media

I thought you might like to know that ever since pitchers and catchers reported for Spring Training, Daisuke Matsuzaka isnt the only Red Sox player in town.

Actually, at least 21 players, including Matsuzaka, showed up EARLY for Spring Training this year.

Players like Julian Tavarez, Dustin Pedroia, Mike Timlin, Tim Wakefield, Josh Beckett…and many, many others.

I remind you of this since I’m having a hard time finding pictures of any of the players at Spring Training EXCEPT Matsuzaka.  (Save for the occasional photo of Curt Schilling.)

I like the kid.  I want him to do well.  But I don’t need to see pictures of him cleaning the jam out from between his toes – you know what I mean?

I want to see pictures of Doug Mirabelli hugging Tim Wakefield.  Of Kyle Snyder running drills along side Kason Gabbard.

I want some damn Mike Timlin pictures people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jon Lester is back this year.  So is Papelbon.  And Manny Delcarmen…and Craig Hansen.  You all were tossing your colleagues in front of golf carts last year to get shots of these kids at Spring Training.  This year?  I can count how many pictures there are.

(Disclosure.  Every year at this time I create a folder for Spring Training on my computer and save the pictures that come out to it and use it as my screen saver.  It helps me gear up for the season.  This is the main reason the issue of ‘how many damn photos of this kid are they going to take in one freaking week’ has come up.)

So take my advice.  Or heed my warning.  Whichever works for you.  Don’t overload us on ONE player, regardless of how much money he’s making.  We like him fine, but we like all of our players and think they ALL deserve the same amount of coverage and respect you all are giving Daisuke.

Please don’t make us sick  of this kid before the start of the season.  It isn’t fair.  Not to us and CERTAINLY not to him.

Thanks a bunch.

RSC
