Not only are we going through major injury issues…and then Papi gets put in the hospital for test of his heart. Now, we have Jon Lester to worry about.
According to this report from the Boston Herald (thanks for the heads up, Dover), because of enlarged lymph nodes, Jon Lester is being tested for cancer.
I’m not sure I have any words to describe how I’m feeling right now. I just wrote on another blog that the Red Sox losses are becoming easier to deal with, especially since they’ll make the wins that much more special. Baseball is baseball and all, right?
But cancer? In a 22 year-old who has his entire career and life in front of him? It’s hopefully not that, but I can’t bear to think that it IS cancer.
My focus is basically on prayers this week. For Papi, for Jon…these two need them more than the team needs wins.
And, Red Sox Nation, if you have an ounce of love for your team, you won’t be booing them tomorrow night. Cheer your team, people. Don’t be bandwagoning idiots. Don’t be kicking them when they’re down. They have bigger things on their minds aside from baseball and they need to know their fans are behind them.
