Went to sleep after 1am and woke up around 5:30am. POURING rain here in my town. Wonder if it is raining in Seattle?
The great news is how Beckett pitched last night (and that he, seemingly, doesn’t have a blister)! Excellent work. Definitely what we needed to see. Timlin got himself in trouble, again, last night, gave up a run, but also got out of it with more than a little help from Wily Mo. Still very concerned about him. Papelbon got four outs and gave up a hit to Vlad Guerrero.
It was a nail-biter, but the final outcome was well worth it.
I’d like to see the guys scoring a little more, but Jered Weaver really was on last night. With the starters, we had an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel. I hate pitcher’s duels.
Schilling on the mound tonight. With the Yankees losing to Seattle again, the Sox picked up a game in the standings. Maybe the Angels will take out their frustrations of losing two close games on the Yankees and maybe we can pound Seattle to gain more ground. I think it can happen!
Reports of Papi going in the hospital last weekend for an irregular heartbeat scare the heck out of me, but I was glad to read Mannys’s MRI was negative (well, negative for the worst case scenario, it showed tendinitis). Of course, that’ll only fuel the fire that is the hateful Boston sports media, but what are you going to do? News that Tek might be back playing next week and that Wake might not be too far behind…well those are two things I can’t let myself get excited about just yet – but I’m crossing my fingers!
I was about to type that I was going to miss the Red Sox game on Saturday and Sunday because on Saturday I’ll be at the "Futures at Fenway" double header and Sunday I’ll be at the Worcester Tornadoes/North Shore Spirit game…but I just looked it up and the Sox don’t play until 10pm on Saturday and 4pm Sunday. Which means I’ll definitely get to see the Saturday game and will probably only miss an hour or so of Sunday’s game. It’s going to be a fun weekend for baseball!
Off to try and actually be EARLY for work this week! Have a great day, folks!
