The suckitude that is Bronson Arroyo*

Well, there’s no sugar coating it, the boy is not looking good right now (professionally speaking, anyway). 

To summarize:  Between this and his first Spring Training start, he has given up 8 earned runs, four walks and 10 hits in 3.2 innings.

I’m pretty sure that isn’t what anyone is looking for if they’re considering trading for Mr. Arroyo.  (Although, personally, I don’t really care what happens in Spring Training as long as everyone is healthy for the games that matter!)

But then maybe that’s his angle?  Maybe he purposely is stinking up the joint so he can stay in Boston and win another title instead of being traded to the Devil Rays? 

Nah.  It’s just the suckitude coming back to haunt him.

Mind you, I’m not worried…well I am a little.  Here’s the deal:  I don’t normally like to gossip, so I won’t.  But what I will say is that rumors are swirling all around Ft Myers these days about Bronson not wearing his wedding ring…I don’t give them much credence.  I saw him twice in January and both times he was wearing it…but I guess you never know.  So I’m worried that if the gossip is true, he’s going to have one of those years.  You know, one of those years where in the following year he gives an interview where he talks about how he was going through a rough time personally and it affected his game (hello, Derek Lowe – who, incidentally, won the game today).

I truly hope this isn’t the case.  Mostly because I find marriages breaking up to be a very sad thing and it would sadden me deeply to find out his has ended…but let’s not get too sappy here – I like Bronson, I think he can be effective and I think he will help the Red Sox this season – as long as his head is in the game.

So here’s to *the suckitude that is Bronson Arroyo leaving the building come April 3rd (and the Bronson I know and love showing up instead)!
