Do not adjust your set

SOME day I will work out a theme for the template of this blog that I’m truly happy with. Until then, you’ll all be subjected to my whims. 🙂

In going online to read the news of the day, I read about George Carlin dying. His later comedy was too preachy and political for me, but his earlier stuff pretty much helped shape my comedic mind. I’ve mentioned before that I have two uncles who were pretty much raised like my brothers. One passed away in April, the other is still around and we’re still close. He’s the one who used to smuggle George Carlin records into my room and tell me not to play them too loudly because if my mother heard them she’d take them away. 😆 So hearing of Carlin’s death has made me sad. Then again, it’s made me go back and listen to some of his old stuff…so, in a weird way, it’s made me happy too. Peace, George. Hope you found it.

After 13 innings, the Sox won a game they probably had no business winning. (Although the Cardinals did their best to give the game away as well.) Sox have their 1.5 game lead back…so I’ll take it. Crabcakes pitched well, but I think the special shout-out should go to Craig Hansen. Kid was clutch yesterday. Unlike out closer. Haven’t looked it up but HOW many homeruns has he given up this season? It probably isn’t as many as it friggin’ feels like, I’m sure. But DAMN.

No matter. Diamondbacks are in town and the Sox need to get their shit together because this team isn’t going to just hang out and let the Sox run them down. Danny Haren pitches against Josh Beckett tonight. Wednesday we get Randy Johnson up against Tim Wakefield. (The last time I saw Randy Johnson pitch, I sat four rows behind home plate and watched Matt Clement get annihilated. ) Tomorrow’s match-up of Doug Davis against Justin Masterson gives me the most hope. Guess that’s why they play them…what do I know? I hope they sweep and tell me to stick my concerns in a sock. 🙂

Talk this weekend of a possible fortieth birthday party for me, my man Mike Timlin going on the DL and the death of one of my comedy idols has left me feeling “old” this morning. I’m heading out and hoping the sun and new day turn that around!

Go enjoy the day, folks!
