The Travels of Tru – Part II

A dear friend of the RSC and frequent commenter here, “Tru” is making the trip to Japan to see both Red Sox games versus the Oakland A’s. Tru was kind enough to offer to contribute his observations on his trip, Japan, and the games.

Here is the second in what I hope will be a few installments of “The Travels of Tru”:

This one is brief (but important since we weren’t convinced Tru was going to contribute photos!) and a combination of two messages I received!

We landed early at Narita yesterday, around 2 AM your time. Since I’m still on east coast time, and sleeping little to nothing at all, I estimate I’d been up for more than 24 hours. Traffic from Narita to Tokyo is a nightmare, as it usually is, but I got to my hotel at around 6:30 PM, with a little time to freshen up before heading out to dinner with work colleagues. While unpacking, I was able to find the game, and watch very little of it before heading out. I saw Pedroia hit a foul to deep right, missing a homerun. The announcing was all Japanese and these guys were/are hilarious sounding. I can only imagine what they were saying.

I was unable to log on last night, because the dinner lasted until around 9:30 PM and by the time I got back to the hotel, I was toast. I see that you had a live blog of the game, which I read; very fun stuff! What’s this? J.D. Drew is mashing? Good for him! Wake had a good outing, and the tune ups are now complete.

For the opening game, Brenda and I will be sitting behind homeplate, but about 35 rows from the field. I guess my sign for Jerry Remy will not be needed: “Jerry, The Girls at the Ginza miss you!”

Meetings start in a few minutes, so I’ll be back later. Sleep tight.

And from this morning:

So, I’m back from the office. Here is the first attempt at sending you a picture. These people all have a World Series cap. I am withholding names, but suffice to say, there are a lot of people in Yoyogi who know about the Sox…
