Was there a game last night?

Apparently the Malaria* is still with me.  If not for a really busy day at work and someone to go to the game with tonight, right now I’d still be curled up in a ball and in bed and would probably stay there the rest of the day, I feel that crummy.

But here I am, getting ready for the day.

Was at Fenway briefly last night.  Shortest visit of my life thus far.  In the second inning I decided it was too cold in the Pavilion seats (and, I promise  you, it was.  I could barely speak because my lips were so cold!), and I was going to leave.  But after getting down to field level, I realized it wasn’t that cold, so I decided to walk around the park and hang with the standing room folks.

That only lasted until just after Mike Lowell’s home run, when I was struck with something I won’t talk about here and ended up having to go home, crawl into bed and fall fast asleep.

So I missed all the "fun".

What I know now is that Curt got rocked, the offense blew many good chances at scoring off of Fogg, and the defense had 2 errors.

I’d probably feel worse about this had I actually watched it all.  But this way, I look at it as a lousy game and tonight the Sox still have a chance to win the series with Josh on the mound.

Sure the Yankees won their 8th in a row, putting them now 8.5 behind the Sox.  So today fans and media will wonder if the Sox are sliding and the Yanks surging…and won’t Theo trade half the team to make sure that doesn’t happen…man it’ll be an annoying day around The Nation, today.

I’ve never counted the Yankees out this year (although, admittedly, I’ve enjoyed their failings), but I’m not freaking out over this.  The Sox are going to lose some, the Yanks are going to win some – and vice versa.

Last night was horrible…but it’s a new day.  And as soon as I get myself up and out, I’ll be able to enjoy that.

(Oh, and good for Curt for getting right to blogging and not blowing it off.  Say what you will, but he owns up to EVERY outing he has, not just the good ones.  He’s an impressive guy on many levels.)

Don’t forget the contest or the postcard shower (which should probably end at the end of the week)!

(*Okay, it isn’t Malaria!)
