First, the Red Sox and Rangers get rained out all weekend.
Then, the Hall of Fame game was called in the third inning yesterday with the Reds leading the Pirates 3-0. (Last year’s HoF game was threatened with bad weather, but thankfully – since I was there – it held off during the actual game.)
I’m not sure if Bronson made the trip to Cooperstown, but if he did it was his second trip to the Hall of Fame game in as many years!
Even the Yankees have been affected. Last night there was a 22 minute rain-delay in the middle of the eighth inning, prompting this quote from Rangers manager, Buck Showalter:
"We’re the rainmakers"
Bit of an understatement there, Buck.
Sox capitalized on a great Beckett outing. Yankees squandered a great Mussina outing.
With his homerun last night, Mike Lowell scored his 500th run (and Tito got his 500th win!) and he leads the league in extra-base hits! Way to go, Mike!
It’s still raining. My town is flooding in many areas, luckily, not so much on my street. I should be leaving very early for work, and will probably leave soon, but even leaving early will probably get me to work late since so many roads in my town are shut down right now. It could be so much worse for us, so I’ll stop complaining now.
The standings are nice this morning, no?
