To both Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek!
Yesterday they both celebrated their 32nd and 34th birthdays, respectively.
Jason celebrated by scoring a run, getting a hit and working a walk.
Trot celebrated by pulling his groin.
Which, I suppose, if you do it correctly isn’t the worst way to spend the day.
But, in Trot’s case, it means we get to watch him on the bench for a handful of games. Not so bad, considering that the team will be seeing some lefties and he’d be sitting for a few of those games anyway…but it just reflects the way his season seems to go every year. I worry about his injury being worse than they’re saying.
