Scott Williamson is auctioning off his World Series Ring

Looking for that one of a kind piece of Red Sox memorabilia and have a few hundred thousand dollars to spare?  Auction house Everything but the House has a deal for you.

From now until Tuesday, October, 28th at 8pm, you have the opportunity to bid on Scott Williamson’s World Series ring at their website.  If you’re in the Cincinnati, Ohio area on Saturday, October 22, you can see the ring in person at EBTH’s physical address from 11am to 4pm.

According to one of the co-owners of Everything but the House, this is the first 2004 ring to go up for auction and they are expecting it to go for anywhere between $100,000 and $250,000.

Williamson went to the Red Sox in a 2003 trade deadline trade with the Cincinnati Reds and was infamously left in the bullpen in game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series, while then manager Grady Little decided to stick with starting pitcher Pedro Martinez in the 8th inning instead of going to Williamson who had been solid in the playoffs.  In 2004 Williamson struggled with staying healthy and even got called out by starting pitcher Curt Schilling about it (the belief among many being he wasn’t as injured as he was projecting, a belief refuted when Williamson needed surgery at the end of the 2004 season).

Williamson was left off the post-season roster in 2004 and his health issues and those like Schilling who questioned them marred his brief time with the team. It seems understandable if the ring holds no sentimental value and best serves Williamson by making him some money.
