A little beaten up…but at least they got the win

Jacoby Ellsbury Photo by Kelly O'Connor - Throwing himself into the wall today won him a new, 7 year-old fan in my niece Madison.

In the past I have, to friends, accused Jacoby Ellsbury of being a little “soft”. Well, no more of THAT. Kid took a fence to the face and stayed in the game. I was quite impressed with him today. Of course, I was also a little concerned for him. The Toronto fans, though, didn’t have that same problem. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a crowd “boo” an injury delay. Who does that? Well, we know now that Toronto fans do that. Stay classy, folks, stay classy.

The win pleases me on many levels. White Sox beat the Rays today (in a really exciting finish!) so the Sox pick up a game in the division. Plus, as I mentioned yesterday, my friend Crystal was there. She’s been to some pretty shitty games lately, so I’m thrilled she got a good one. AND Jed Lowrie got the chance to be the hero – and took it! The photo today should be of Jed, but my niece Madison requested Jacoby – so Jacoby it is.

Sox get a day off and then a three day series in New York. I have no feelings about this series just yet. The Yankees don’t ‘scare’ me. But the lack of Red Sox pitching does right now. Then again, the Yankees have the same issue. So, these next three games really could go either way and it’s certainly not worth my time to worry about them long before they happen.

PawSox won a good one tonight, but so did Scranton so they didn’t gain any ground. Hey, the playoffs are the thing and they’ve already accomplished that. The rest of the season will be gravy.

Between this coming Friday and next Tuesday, I have four baseball games scheduled. One at Fenway, two at Pawtucket and one in Lowell. Knowing that will make the long week at work I have coming up go by a little more quickly and a lot less painfully.
