I’m one of those people who can make the worst game at Fenway fun. I can find the good in any situation if I’m sitting in the park. I’m also one of the fans who actually enjoys "Sweet Caroline". It’s a lot of fun to watch the entire park sing together. Even if it is a sappy song from the seventies.
Except when the Sox are losing. I freaking hate that damn song when the Sox are losing. Your team is getting their collective asses kicked and you’re smiling and singing? Drives me friggin’ crazy.
First Fenway boos of the season (for the home team) went to Joel Pineiro and then Coco Crisp. 7 games into the season. Stay classy bandwagon fans.
For the second game in a row, there was no sign of the wave. I thank God for small favors.
Prior to this morning, Friday’s game was the only one I didn’t have tickets to for this home stand. That changed with an offer I received via email. So I’ll be going to 7 games in a row (barring weather postponements). I knew I couldn’t be greedy and expect a win for every game.
I’m sorry the Sox lost. But I have to admit to a certain glee coming from everyone focusing on Daisuke and Hernandez being the one who gets all the praise afterward because of his amazing game. Kelly texted me to remind me how special witnessing a no-hitter is (as long as it wasn’t the Yankees throwing it). I settled into enjoying the pitching display and JD Drew breaks it up with a hit (extending his hitting streak, so that made me happy).
The Fenway organist played "Bohemian Rhapsody" before the game tonight. It was…interesting.
And I’m not positive, but I think I saw Jere on the scoreboard tonight! Looked like him and his companion to me!
I’m heading back to Fenway tomorrow (unless the ‘rain, snow, and wind’ weather.com promises shows up and cancels the game). Wake on the mound…Sox in green jerseys to honor Red Auerbach…lets hope someone remembers to bring run support.
I uploaded pictures from tonight and I added some pictures to the Opening Day page. Hope you enjoy them!
(Funky picture of the New England Holocaust Memorial, taken by me tonight after the game)
