How great for him to throw a no-hitter!!! And how exciting to do it in his rookie year.
Bitter Red Sox fans all around are already complaining about the trade that sent him to Florida. Sorry, I can’t be one of those fans. Mike Lowell has been amazing for us and Josh Beckett, well, he’s 14-10 with a 5.11 era and 138 strikeouts. Sanchez is 7-2 with a 2.89 era and 53 strikeouts in 14 games. Those are some great numbers for Sanchez, and for what we expected from Beckett, not so-great numbers for Josh. But still, it doesn’t mean much. Don’t get me wrong, the kid looks super – and, as Mark pointed out earlier in the week, it isn’t every pitcher who throws a no-hitter. But I’d rather look at a complete season or two before I start hanging people in the Red Sox front office for this trade.
Man, why can’t people just look at last night as a great night for Sanchez? Why do some always have to turn it into something negative?
Oh well…what are you going to do?
Red Sox get a day off today and then pick up against Kansas City tomorrow. I’ve pretty much stopped reading the Boston sports sites and blogs et al. I mean, really, if I wanted to read all that gloom and doom, there are much more serious things I could be reading about. The Sox have won four out of the last seven…and they were all exciting and fun wins. Can’t ask for more than that.
Have a great day, folks! Don’t forget to visit the other blog!
