I’m not. I’m way too tired for these upcoming games. 🙂 But, hey, at least there are only two of them!
As most who visit here know, Mike Timlin is my favorite active Red Sox player. I was feeling very sorry for him last night. The loss didn’t hurt us all that much, but it was a tough one for sure. Then I read this quote from him this morning:
"It’s just some days you don’t win. I look at it like,
today, with us throwing the ball where we threw the ball, we’re strong
enough in our faith, in our team, in God, and in the things that are
going on in our life that we’re OK. God wants everybody to do well.
Things like this happen. Apparently the Mariners needed a boost. Beltre
needed a boost in his confidence, so did Sexson. I look at it like I’m
strong enough to handle a loss. God knows that. And they needed help.
So it works that way."
I absolutely love that attitude. Apparently, "Capitan" pulled Manny Delcarmen aside and spoke to him after the game. Timlin is definitely a leader in that bullpen, and with an attitude like he represents above, I think the ‘kids’ in that bullpen will be just fine.
Still 2.5 up in the standings, and some Yankees fans are already looking at the Wild Card for their team. My how things have changed!
Also, for those interested, The Angel Fund is honoring Mike and his wife Dawn for their work to fight ALS. You can click here for details about the dinner this weekend.
So what do we do? The last two games were lousy, but not indicative of the way the Sox have been playing. So, while I would prefer a 3.5 game lead, I’ll take what we have. We have Beckett going against Zito tonight, Schilling going against Jason Windsor tomorrow night and for the Wednesday afternoon game, Snyder going against Danny Haren. Just a guess, that last one is going to be a lot more exciting than you all might think!
Well, I’m off to the ‘real’ world for nine hours or so. Have a great day, folks!
