Some thoughts on the Yankees this Tuesday morning

BronsonvbrewNow, there is no denying the Yankees have been a bit snake-bit by injuries lately.  BUT, why do people (like Curt Schilling) keep acting like this team is currently built to be steamrolled?

Last time I checked, they still had Damon, Jeter, Rodriguez, Giambi, Cano, Posada and even Bernie Williams in their lineup.  Even with taking away Williams, that’s still 2/3rds of their lineup that SHOULD be pretty dangerous.

Welcome to the real world, Yankees, where every position in the lineup ISN’T filled with an all-star.

And they still have Johnson, Mussina, Wang and Wright in their starting rotation.  These guys aren’t schmoes.  At  least, they aren’t supposed to be.  Any woes any of the starting pitchers are  having, have nothing to do with injuries (unless they’re not telling us something).

So, sorry, I’m not buying into the "of COURSE the Mets took 2 out of 3 and of COURSE the Sox won last night because the Yankees aren’t at full speed" argument.  Not at all.  With those arms on the mound and those bats in the lineup, this Yankees team should still be pretty dangerous.  No excuses.  They’ve lost 4 out of 5 games to the Red Sox thus far…and I credit the Red Sox with that, NOT any injuries the Yankees have.

I’m at the game tonight.  As I keep saying, Wake owes me a win.  I intend to collect.

Have a great day, folks!
